On October 13, 1971 a small group of antique automobile members filed an AACA application to the Board on Directors of the Northeastern Pennsylvania Region for the new Scranton Chapter. The AACA granted the Scranton Chapter on February10, 1972 and we were off and running.
The first Scranton Chapter’s Antique Automobile Show was held at the South Abington Grade School grounds in July of 1972. On October 29th, the first Scranton Chapter’s Run took 38 members, in the pouring rain, to the Prince Hotel in Tunkhannock. The Chapter’s newsletter was officially named “The Klaxonet” with the May 1973 issue.
On September 26, 1974 The Scranton Chapter became the Scranton Region with a chapter of its own, the Wayne-Pike Chapter. In 1976 the Scranton Region was presented the Samuel E. Baily Memorial Award for the excellent Model A commentary and slides. June 23 to the 25, 1977 brought the AACA Eastern National Spring Meet to the International Salt Grounds in Clarks Summit.
